Flower Cut Diamond Bracelets
The most feminine and prettiest of diamond bracelets, diamond flowers are a new shape which really only came into being in the mid 1990´s when De Beers began promoting them.
Flower cuts were created in 1986 by Gabi Tolkowsky. There are five different shapes which are based on unconventional dimensions and cutting angles which have been designed to maximise the colour and natural brilliance of the stones.
The Dahlia is a 12 sided oval shape with 63 facets: the Fire Rose is a regular hexagonal shape with 61 facets: the Marigold is an octagonal shape with 73 facets which has a large table and shallow pavilion: the Sunflower has a 43 facet cut which produces a variety of angular shapes which yield a great brilliance: finally the Zinnia is a round fancy shape which has 40 of its 65 facets clustered around the base of the stone which create enhanced fire. None of these shapes are patented or trademarked because De Beers wanted them to be cut and sold by anyone in the world.
Because of the intricacy of diamond flower bracelets it is important that you keep the stones clean. Contact with your skin and its oils will dull the diamonds and damp air can oxidise or discolour the mounting. The easiest and best way to look after your jewellery is by preparing a solution of warm household liquid detergent (washing up liquid is excellent) and lightly brush the bracelet with an old toothbrush. Pat dry (do not rub) with a cloth that is lint free. This is a very gentle way to clean your diamonds and will not cause any damage.
Diamond flower bracelets are popular items of diamond jewellery which can be worn for all occasions and make excellent gifts.
